The men’s basketball teams will clash in Vermillion at 1 p.m., while the women’s game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Frost Arena. Both contests will be televised on Midco Sports.

The much-anticipated rivalry kicks off with the Coyote men hosting the Jackrabbits, followed by the South Dakota State women hosting USD. Leading up to the rivalry game, all four teams will be in action on Thursday night. SDSU’s men will host Omaha, SDSU’s women will visit the Mavericks, USD’s men will host St. Thomas, and the women’s team will travel to St. Paul to face the Tommies.

SDSU Men
The Jackrabbits, chosen as the Summit League favorites, hold a 9-9 overall record and a 2-1 Summit League play record. Despite a recent loss, they showcase strong performances from guard Zeke Mayo and emerging talents like William Kyle, Luke Appel, and Charlie Easley.

USD Men
The Coyotes enter the game with an 8-10 overall record and a 1-2 league record. Kaleb Stewart leads the team in scoring, supported by Lahat Thioune, Bostyn Holt, and Paul Bruns. Despite being the top rebounding team, turnovers have been a challenge for USD.

USD Women
With a 12-6 overall record and a 1-2 league mark, the USD women’s team looks to rebound after home losses. Grace Larkins leads in various categories, supported by Kendall Holmes and Tori DePerry. Coach Kayla Karius emphasizes the need for a “killer instinct” and defensive improvements.

SDSU Women
The Jackrabbits boast a 11-5 overall record and a perfect 3-0 league record. Led by Brooklyn and Paige Meyer, the team has found success with a consistent defense. Senior Tori Nelson and guard Madison Mathiowetz contribute significantly, showcasing growth in their roles.

As the teams prepare for the weekend showdown, coaches express optimism about their players’ progress and the competitive spirit of the Summit League.
