President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola delivered a speech before the Riigikogu, emphasizing Europe’s resilience and unity despite recent crises. She highlighted Estonia’s steadfast support for Ukraine and called for practical measures to enhance Europe’s strategic autonomy, particularly in defense. Metsola assured continued support for Ukraine and urged closer engagement with EU citizens, especially ahead of the European Parliament elections.
Additionally, Russian authorities launched criminal proceedings against Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, which she deemed politically motivated. Kallas reaffirmed her support for Ukraine and criticized Russia’s actions. Estonia’s commitment to NATO and defense spending, along with Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna’s anti-Russian stance, underscored the country’s dedication to regional security and support for Ukraine.
